Acid reflux is
not only common in adults. Children as well as babies experience acid reflux
too. It can occur in various age groups among children. As we all know, acid
reflux happens when stomach contents backflow into the esophagus. When this
happens, acids in the stomach cause irritation and discomfort. In children, an
immature digestive system is one the reasons why acid reflux occur. When acid
reflux occurs, the stomach contents may come out of their mouth. This causes
them to vomit forcefully.
Acid reflux has
many symptoms. It can be a combination of all or just one. To know what the
symptoms you need to watch out in your children, here are some of the common
symptoms in children:
·Inability to sleep soundly.
·Inability to eat even if they are hungry.
·Poor weight.
·Refusing to eat anything.
·Pain, irritation
·Frequent spitting up and vomiting large amounts of milk after
eating. This is common in newborn.
·Vomiting for more than one hour.
These are the
common symptoms you should watch out for in your children. Some of the less
common symptoms include sore throat, difficulty in swallowing, ear infection,
excessive salivation and frequent burping or hiccup. If this occurs, it is
better to consult your pediatrician and find some acid reflux remedies. Early detection also means early treatment
so be sure to watch out for these in your children.
