Genital wart is a sexually transmitted disease that is caused by the human papillomavirus.  Medically, it is also called as condylomata acuminate.  It is an abnormal growth surrounding the vagina, rectum or penis.  If in cases that you have this condition, it is important to subject yourself to series of treatments.  It is essential that you know the different types of genital warts wherein some types are noticeable while others are concealed.  In worst cases, warts that are concealed can be a case of cancer.  In order to determine what caused the condition, some laboratory examinations will be done.  One of which is by examining the cervix and the rectum to check for visible ones before prescribing appropriate treatment.  More frequently, this condition is treated with vaccines, especially those types that can significantly lead to cancer.  For visible warts, lasers, surgery, cryotherapy and freezing techniques are utilized to remove them.  Medications are only applied to decrease the risk of the spread of infection. 

Some types of genital warts symptoms can disappear in one to two years while some are continuous and increase the vulnerability to cancer.  According to some studies, there are more than 70 recognized human papillomaviruses including genital warts.  A doctor can detect genital warts right away if they are visible and observable.  For instance, there are known types like type 6 and type 11 which affect both the genital and rectal area.  Moreover, there are warts that grow externally however; they cannot be seen easily that is why some doctors use a magnifying tool to confirm the presence of the warts.  Keep in mind that genital warts can easily be treated if you have a healthy immune system but if it is weak, you could expect that it may be complicated to get rid of the infection completely.
